I would want it with a set of interchangeable heads. Maybe including a unicorn one, plus centuar, chimera, etc.

Children aren't that stupid, are they? I don't think I would have been particularly upset about it as a child, knowing that it needed to be assembled before I could play with it. The thing that would upset me would be if it came all together and then someone ripped its head off. *then* I would have probably freaked out.

Especially if they couldn't get it back on straight, so from then on the pony had a sort of drunken look.
