It's been an age since I've posted here, so about time for an update I think.

* The Doubtful Guest was great fun -- catch it on tour if you can. We were lucky enough to be there for a post-show chat with the company about how they put the show together. If you know the picture-book you're probably wondering how you can do a play of it, as it's only 28 lines long. Welll, it's sort of half play, half physical theatre I guess. Inventive, fun and would be good for kids too.

* More theatre! We went to see Laurel and Hardy on its second night; half expecting it might be a bit rough around the edges, but actually it was already pretty slick. This is also not quite a play, but not a "biopic" style of thing either thank goodness -- it's a celebration of the art and craft of the duo, set in the slenderest of framing narratives and filled out with scenes from their lives done in the style of their films. Including an excellent staging of the classic wallpaper-paste routine! If you don't like Laurel and Hardy films then you'll hate this. But hopefully, you do like them, in which case this will be lots of fun and really rather impressive. And again, good for kids.

* We were a team of ringers at a fundraising quiz for [WARNING! COMIC SANS ALERT!] Copdock pre-school. We were invited by our friend Lisa, but were the only people from outside the village AFAICS, and walked away with the prize by an embarrassingly comfortable margin. Fortunately the car started quickly so we were able to get out of Dodge before they turned ugly. In a couple of weeks is our biannual Neighbourhood Watch quiz at which we resume our deadly rivalry with the team of schoolteachers based at number 81. So far the score is one quiz each, both times by the narrowest of margins...

* After nearly two years in here, I've finally put some shelves up in the office, and also for the first time ever (not enough office wallspace at previous houses) hung up the lovely collection of thank-you messages that I was given as part of the Inferno GMing team. (Wow, I wasn't expecting that website to still be live.) Thanks everyone who contributed good wishes!

* Those of you who know my little sister S, she's got a new job; in Namibia this time, with these people. Between finishing in Vietnam and starting that, she's going to be here for a few weeks over the end of May / beginning of June, partly doing some exams but hopefully mostly chilling. With any luck our bathroom will be done by then.

That'll do for now, back to work...

It makes me very happy that Inferno's still there. Wessex was too, last time I looked. It makes me feel like the Oxford I knew still exists out there somewhere.

And no doubt will be confusing innocent people's search results for many years to come.
