Thermodynamics of LJ

Interesting paper (fsvo interesting) analysing the connectedness of LJ, simulated as diffusion in a multi-dimensional porous system.

TagClouder update

I've done a wee tweak to the TagClouder to make it work via GET, ie. you can type an url like:

http://www.holkar.net/cgi-bin/undying/tag_clouder.pl?which_username=undyingking

(replacing undyingking with your own username or whatever!) and that takes you straight to the tag cloud result. You can even bookmark it if you like!

Tag Clouder

This might be of interest to those of you who use tags a lot -- it's a little toy to generate a "tag cloud" along the lines of the LJ popular interests page (except it shows tags used by a user, not interests across users) a la flickr, del.icio.us etc.

You can enter your own username or that of anyone else you're interested in -- it only draws on public entries, though. Click on a tag to see the list of entries that use it.

Any thoughts about how to improve it much welcomed -- plus please do feel free to pass it to anyone else who'd be interested!

It's at: http://www.holkar.net/cgi-bin/undying/tag_clouder.pl

(Well, it's more fun than working.)

Moose dynamics

Moose density up to a giddy 12 people, 21 posts yesterday, and above 0.3% of "people", whatever that means. Good, but we can do better -- let's see some exponential growth here!

Looking at the comments on [livejournal.com profile] bateleur 's original post, this project is starting to draw interest from users and administrators of LJtags.com. The more the merrier!

Moose for king!

You might have seen this entry from the other day, talking about LJ tag popularity graphing. The inventive [livejournal.com profile] bateleur  has devised a scheme to make "moose" the top tag in time for Christmas. All it needs is for you, yes you, to include "moose" among the tags for every entry you make from now until then. You can use this url to monitor how the project's going!

The other important thing is, of course, you should repost along these lines in your own journal, so that all your friends can also particpate in a viral manner. Isn't LJ fun sometimes?

Google Blogsearch -- robot behaviour

A few people had been wondering / complaining about this, so: Google not evil, just incompetent?

Hey brad

EvanM passed a note our way from LJ Tech Support, regarding Blog Search and its accidental indexing of "noindex" LJ content. Just wondering if you guys could let your users know that this was entirely unintentional, and a fix should go live within the next day or two? (hopefully tomorrow)

Thanks,
E
