I've created a new LJ tool thing which basically compares your friends and friend-ofs lists and lists the differences. This is all just information that's on your profile page anyway, but it makes it easier to see who of your friends haven't friended you, etc. Also of course you can check it for people than other yourself. Gives a flavour of who's stalking / being stalked by whom, who not-so-secretly hates whom, etc etc...

This is fairly pointless, but then it didnt take very long to write, so hey.

The usual caveat about how if you've got loads of friends it might take a while to chug, and about how the data is cached so doesn't reflect very recent changes, apply. Any requests for additional features / improvements / bugs etc?

One possibly useful feature would be some sort of notation for users with no friends (or only one friend). That might prevent not-really-a-person LJs from clogging up the list of unfriendly sods.

Mm, good idea.

Would slow things down considerably, because it'd have to retrieve each of their friends lists to check -- the same problem that makes the FriendFinder time out for people with lots of friends. I ought really to investigate ways of keeping the browser alive while that's going on.

Is that a bug in LJ then ? My "friend of" list is hidden, so how does your tool work out whether my flist have friended me ?

Not sure if it's a bug proper or an undocumented feature...

My impression is that deticking the 'display friend-ofs' box only really conceals it from your profile page itself. There's a separate url which, for any LJ user, gives a complete list of their friends and also of who's friended them.
