Oh dear oh dear... you have to feel sorry for Australia, don't you? Knocked out of the World Cup by a penalty, the last kick of the game, that was given for an aboslutely blatant dive. How very, very sad indeed. Still, I'm sure they'll take this ill fortune in the good-natured sportsmanlike way for which they're famed.

Any urge to see the funny side of it must be very firmly resisted, particularly by those of us with Australian brothers-in-law.

Yes, very sad, as I am supporting the underdogs in practically every match of the World Cup, obviously I should be cheering for plucky little Australia against the footballing giants of Italy. Except not, tee hee.

Funnily enough I don't have this problem so much with the US - I'd be genuinely torn in a US/Brazil game, but the Australians are over-achieving quite enough already thankyouverymuch.

Robbed, they woz robbed. I thought Australia looked set to go into extra time and really cause Italy some problems. Italy have the easiest route into the last 4 of any of the favoured teams. I'd loved to have seen one from Ukraine/Switzerland/Australia there. Always good to see a big underdog make it.
