The daughter of a friend is going for an 'interview' for a place on a drama course at Edinburgh Uni, and as part of it she's supposed to prepare a song, which will be accompanied by piano. She's a bit thrown by this as they've provided no guidance as to what type of song, music, etc, and apparently the relevant office that might explain it is closed for Easter up until the day before her interview. Do any of you have experience of such things / family members, friends etc who've done it, who can shed a bit of light on what sort of thing they're probably looking for?

I don't have any knowledge of this specifically, but in every other interview ever the idea is to show what you can do. An idea which is bold, interesting and well executed cannot be "wrong" in the context of an interview.

(It's like the old urban legend of some interviewer saying "Do or say something that will shock me !" and the candidate smashes the guy's window by throwing his paperweight through it.)

When I was looking for info about drama schools (not for myself, obviously) I found this site which seemed quite good. Obviously a drama course at university may be a bit different but it would be worth a quick look
