Corpse Bride

Just a quickie -- was good, everything you would expect really. Nice plot, nice acting (especially Helena B-C, and it's not often you'll hear me say that), nice animation, nice Danny Elfman music, what's not to like!

And trailers for good things coming up -- Brothers Grimm, King Kong, new Harry Potter...

Actually it's now apparent that this month is a mini-Golden Age of cinema. New films by Miyazaki, Nick Park, Burton, Gilliam and Jackson in more-or-less successive weeks? Come on!

I liked it a lot too

Might go and see it again. Without wanting to open a debate about the merits of previous films (so I'll be extra careful with what I say) it, for me, seemed to distill the essence of much of what he's been after/doing before, simply and effectively.

I found the pub-of-the-dead scenes quite, in a way, scary! Without being off-put by the lurid colour scheme as I might have expected to have been.

Many really good spooky moments, and if HB-C was the corpse bride, then yes agree; a sympathetic revelation.

Mm -- although in some senses I guess it's a slight work probably handed over to the animators fairly quickly, maybe that means it's closer to the raw vision than the more compromised /complicated big projects.
