I just noticed, on a recent Amazon packet, that it included the invitation to "Rate this packaging", at www.amazon.co.uk/packaging. Intrigued, I investigated further. It seems you can rate it from for degree of protection afforded, for appropriateness of size, and for ease of opening; and you can add freeform comments and even upload photos (of your delighted face as you rip the box open. Or possibly of the dreadful gash it made on your thumb.)

Sounds rather less fun than Pimping my Ride...

I can see this being both useful and satisfying if you recieve something damaged due to poor packaging - you whizz on and click the button marked CRAP.
For anyone smaller than Amazon it wouldn't be worthwhile, but for them it's worth doing - benefits of scale FTW.

So far I have found their packaging pretty uniformly good, but sadly they will never know. Unless they want to just infer that from my lack of complaint.

I found out about it recently but at the same time as I received an inappropriately packaged parcel where the contents had started to fall out, so providing feedback was actually useful. On the other hand, I resent the ever-increasing demands for feedback on thing I generally don't wish to comment on so wish they'd stop forcing it on me.

Mm, at least they don't email you about this one.

I'd only be bothered if there was some sort of screw-up. Although it's just possible I'd comment if the package design was seriously smart. Mostly ignore, though.

I think I must be growing up a little. I scrolled past your post title on my flist several times without sniggering!

No buttons represent my reaction which was 'OK, didn't know that, but not Yikes!' and 'I may do, now it's an option, but neither assiduously or vigorously one way or the other.'

It is unusual for me not to be black-and-white about things. So thanks for finding the issue on which I'm not. It makes me feel really chilled out. cool, dude.

Sounds like you are the classical 'excluded middle'. Well, I guess if there is an issue to not feel bivalent about, packaging is probably it.

It coincided with new horrible packaging that I hated so I meant to complete it but even though I felt strongly I didn't get a round tuit.

Mm, I had some packaging that was quite nice (for a single DVD) but on looking at the form, a great weariness came over me.

I once complained about rubbish packaging for an Amazon item (loose in a plastic bag and as a result got damaged in the post). The reply I got was that Amazon makes sure all the packaging it uses is suitable for the purpose. Now I suspect the item may have come loose from its original packaging and been put in the bag by the post office, but I have no evidence that was the case and there was no post office sticker to say that had been done. I would have hoped Amazon would have looked into the matter, but all I got was a brush off.

Bah, that's pretty poor.

I wasn't impressed. It also seemed rather out of character for Amazon, which has at other times given me excellent service.

I remember filling in that form once because I had a problem with the packaging, but can't remember what exactly. There was the occasion they left the package outside the house over Christmas and it got snowed on, soaking the books within, but that's not really a packaging issue so think it must have been something else!
