Gah! -- bloody council

Our local council has just decided to remove almost all the bus / cycle lane from the main arteries into the town centre. Apparently motorists were finding it too restrictive. Good grief! What century is this again?

Not only that but the Lib Dems have the gall to boast about this on their leaflet. "It's good to see the views of local people taken into account after years of being ignored [by the Labour council which was in power until last year and which instigated the bus lanes]." Bastards!

Sneak out in the middle of the night with a can of paint?

Mm, maybe so.

What century is this ? The twenty-first, where democracy conquers all. The council have responded to the wishes of the majority - that's democracy in action. Did you want your old century back ? I hear it had some socialists in it.

I heard that too, although at the time we thought that was the political centre ground...

There was such a underground cyclist movement in London a few years back.

Here in Boulder they are still adding new bike lanes on an already extensive network.

And its sunny all the time. Comiserations Mo!

As a Londoner, I now resent bikes, because they hold up bendy buses for absolutely AGES

Look on the bright side. Our local council has just closed off, without warning, all the sensible routes through the center of town for us to get home by (divering traffic onto either more crowded roads or a mile-long detour), and now we discover that the rail platform we get off at in the evening on the way home will be closed for 3 months. I don't remember them doing this when Greenwich got its DLR. The alternative station is one I'd much rather go to in the morning than in the late evening....
