Verbosely paraphrased lyrics quiz

My deliberately blank expression is inscrutable, inscrutable; inscrutable to him.

An easy one to start off with...

(I think it was [livejournal.com profile] venta who came up with this idea.)

Of course, there's always a risk that you might not know the song! I find it quite interesting noting which bits the mind grasps at to decrypt them.

Or doesn't grasp... I've been mentally rearranging bits of "lucky" and "belive" and such to try and solve [livejournal.com profile] gbsteve's above as I feel groundlessly sure I know the song...

I'm pretty bad at remembering lyrics when I read them as it is (despite being able to sing along when they come on), let alone when they're paraphrased. I guess the reason is that for me, the music is what I latch onto when I hear a song, not the lyrics.

Oh, a very strong chance of that I'd reckon. Of course since the same themes recur in songs again and again, it's easy to get a vague sense of familiarity with the gist of a lyric, even if you don't know the song in question!
