Keegan out!

Good heavens, the latest crisis to engulf Newcastle. Mike Ashley must have let that pint he sunk so swiftly on Saturday do the talking for him.

Probably like most fans (who aren't from Sunderland or Middlesbrough) I have a soft spot for Newcastle as a real footballing club, and want to see them do well. But blimey, just lately they've set new records for chaotic farce even by their own high standards.

Selling Milner! Not selling Barton, when they had a decent offer and he was willing to go! No new contract for Owen! Whatever mysterious thing happened to Arthur Cox! Dennis Wise! (Dennis Wise! I ask you.)

Five Live are now reporting that NU has issued a statement saying he hasn't left, well certainly hasn't been sacked (doesn't say he hasn't stormed off in a huff).

It is hard to see how it can get much worse there. Morale must be awful.

But Newcastle have been a farce (well, a black-and-white comedy) for years. Pissing off the messiah on his second coming by selling his favourite player is just another scene.

More astonishing is the whole Manchester City saga; at the moment, it's like watching an express train full of playful monkeys hurtling towards a broken bridge - yes, it's fun, it's sure to end in tragedy, but even that will somehow raise a smile.

According to the Guardian, Curbishley is considering his options.

It's only three games into the season...

Same for us, three games, two being two of the toughest fixtures in the league and we've got four points. That's our best start in a while.

And now this. Still, the new signings look good, the squads too small, but it is good. Not getting rid of Barton is odd though...
